-Schizophrenia: a long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation.

-How it Affects Learning: hard to pay attention, poor abstract thinking, poor planning and problem solving, poor memory, decreased verbal skills, and poor organizational skills

How To Meet the Needs of Someone With Schizophrenia:

Don’t buy into the myth that someone with schizophrenia can’t get better or live a meaningful life

Do your best to help themfeel better and enjoy life

Pay attention to your own needs

Maintain a sense of humor and remain hopeful
