Mehmet Yaya CAS Highlights

Dr. Mehmet E. Yaya is a professor and the Interim Department Head of the Economics Department. Dr. Yaya is originally from Turkey and has been part of the EMU community since 2009. What he likes most about his administrative duties and teaching is being able to guide students, and see them succeed. He is also very involved in his research, mainly to learn new techniques and models for his students, and to share his ideas with the public. His research focuses on immigration, inequality, and labor markets. Currently, he is working alongside his colleague Dr. Amanda Stype to research how COVID-19 has impacted labor markets, and how the share of immigrants has influenced the spread of the COVID-19. His ultimate goal with this research is to inform policymakers on behalf of the public to hopefully implement/extend the social distancing measures. Thank you Dr. Yaya for your amazing work! #TRUEMU #EMUCAS
