Space Race By Justin dickerSon

The people involved in the space race were NASA, Russia, President Eisenhower, Nikita Khrushchev and people building the spacecrafts. Neil Armstrong was the first to go on the moon but not in space.

Places where the space race was involved were the Kennedy space station, Gangarin's start, space and the moon.

The space race took place because they wanted to see who could go to space first and when Russia released Sputnik ( first satellite to go into space) into space, it made everyone try to get there. Russia wanted to prove that they were indeed the best country in the world. America wanted to prove that they could beat Russia in something.

The effects of it was that we were able to make it to the moon and so we could make plans on going past the moon and to different planets and other areas.

The first person to go into space was soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alexseyevich Gagarin. The first satellite to go into space was the Sputnik made by the soviets which actually is one of the main reasons there was the space race. The first man to go on the moon was American astronaut Neil Armstrong. He became famous and made a quote, "one step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

The affect of going to space was positive because they all went to space and now we have satellites and spacecrafts in space now because of them.

It pulled America and Russia away from each other for a little bit but it didn't affect anything. Russia beat America to space but America landed on the moon first.
