Lobo Football Spring Practice Day 1 * March 22, 2017

Coming off a 9-4 season and a Mountain Division Championship and a win in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, The University of New Mexico Lobo football team hit the South Practice Complex for the first of 15 Spring workouts. The Lobos had 87 players out at practice, easily the most for any of Coach Davie's six Spring campaigns.

Jacob Girgle is one of the vets that will be looking to replace nine starters on defense.
Alex Hart has backed up Dakota Cox the past two seasons and should get plenty of reps in the Spring.
Two JC newcomers, D'Angelo Ross (3) and Willie Hobdy (8) work on technique early in practice.
Hard to tell but that's Valley's Teton Saltes getting work in on the tackling dummy.
Head coach Bob Davie spoke with the media after practice. Along with the Albuquerque Journal, KOB and KRQE were on hand for interviews.
Anu Somoye is one of 14 receivers in camp.
Chris Davis is one of several senior veterans on offense.
Romell Jordan (4) missed 2016 with a knee injury, as did Daevon Vigilant (21, back) but both are back in limited roles in the Spring.
Sammy Bernard and Kameron Smith aren't trying out for Game of Thrones, but they are working on leverage.
Senior QB Lamar Jordan drops back under the watchful eye of offensive coordinator Bob DeBesse.
Senior Corey Bojorquez averaged 47.3 yards per punt over the final seven games of 2016.
Kickers Vincent Alerding and Jason Sanders were happy for Spring practice to begin

The 2017 Spring campaign continues on Friday morning, March 24 at the South Practice Field. The practices run from 9 a.m to about 11:15 a.m., and are free and open for UNM fans. Fans should bring water to drink, and the best place to watch practice is in the shade on the west side of Indoor Practice Facility, which is in the shade the entire practice.
