A VR Experience for NXP and i.MX 8
To promote the i.MX 8 processor board at FTF Connects in Detroit, we created an interactive VR experience highlighting how the board is used in the automotive industry. Attendees were invited to don the HTC Vive VR headset and using a high-end gaming racing wheel and pedals, "drive" into the future of automotive technology. This was all powered in real time by the i.MX 8 processor. The board, on display, was inputting four, 4k live streams into the virtual eCockpit, powering four screens on the dashboard. The feeds were hot swapped after the two-minute long experience to show how the board was live feeding the VR without pre-rendering.
After the event, the experience was pre-rendered as a 360 degree video for release on social media using YouTube and Facebook 360. This version of the experience lacks interactivity and the live 4k streams, but is available to a much wider audience.
