New Year - New Faces

It's a brand new year and we have two brand new faces on the AXO Philanthropy team. Mackenzie Turner - VP of Philanthropy is enjoying her 2nd year as a part of AXO, is currently studying business/nonprofit management, and loves coffee & traveling. Ashley Goodwin - Service Chair, is loving her first year in the AXO sisterhood, is currently studying Accounting and loves Captain America & pasta.

Upcoming Events

Stay tuned for new volunteer opportunities! We're working to build great relationships with non-profits in our community that will provide us with some great opportunities to provide service and make a difference!

Philanthropy Hour Opportunities

Ronald McDonald House - The RMDH has some amazing volunteer opportunities. They are located at 935 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT. They have a variety of opportunities ranging from working their front desk (3 hour shifts ranging from 9am-9pm, monthly or weekly) to caring for their official therapy dog Ollie (only Wed. and Sat. 12-3pm, monthly or weekly). E-Mail Ashley Go odwin at anguire21@gmail.com or message her on Facebook for the full list of opportunities.

Tabling - Table for the ASUU elections count for a service hour! Contact Hunter Howe for the full details.

Greek Choice Awards - If you were nominated and applied for a Greek Choice Award, you get a service hour! Just show us proof that you applied when submitting your service hours.

Chapter Dinner Clean Up - Help Kiana clean up after chapter dinner and you get a service hour! It's a super easy way to get an hour, and it only takes a few minutes. Help a sister out!

Purple Ribbon Benefit - We have so many opportunities for service hours for this event! Help Mackenzie stuff and seal invitations the week before spring break for service hours. Look out for a sign up sheet with tasks that need to be done for the benefit. Sign up and complete the task for service hours. Help get auction items for the silent auction! Items = service hours. Contact Ashley Goodwin with any questions.

Cookies and Chai - Donate food items for service hours! Look at the Cookies and Chai section below for more details.

The Usual - The Bennion Center is always open to volunteers. We'll have more opportunities here as the year progresses.

GROUP SERVICE OPPORTUNITIes

Ronald McDonald House - The RMDH also has amazing group service opportunities. They are located at 935 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT. There are opportunities ranging from making meals for families, pampering families, or even seasonal outdoor cleanup. Times are flexible, and most require groups of at least 5. If you are interested please E-Mail Ashley Goodwin at anguire21@gmail.com or contact her through Facebook for more information.

YWCA - The YWCA is a national organization that works to help women and children who are victims of domestic violence and abuse, and also works to empower women within the community. They have a branch in Salt Lake, and are always looking for volunteers. They need help with sorting donations, tutoring, and activity nights with the residents of their shelter. We are working on setting up times to go with a big group, but if you would like to go before that please let Ashley Goodwin know at anguire21@gmail.com or through Facebook and she will try to set something up.

Reality Town - USU-Extension needs volunteers for their upcoming Reality Town simulations. Students will go through a simulation to put into practice what they have learned through their finance workshops, and volunteers will help run stations (students can 'buy' things from them, volunteers may have to give change, help count money, etc.). Please send all inquiries, as dates and numbers of volunteers needed are always changing, to Kirstin Kvam at kirstin.kvam@usu.edu.

COOKIES AND CHAI

March 27th - This event is mandatory. We are looking for dessert donations, especially from grocery stores and bakeries. If you know anyone or have any hookups please let Ashley or Mackenzie know, and please sign up on the following Google Doc. Please bring all food items by 12pm on Sunday the 26th. If they need to be refrigerated please label them 'Cookies and Chai' and place them in the basement fridge. Any non-refrigerated items need to be labeled the same and placed on the shelves next to the basement fridge. When you bring them you MUST have a member of exec or Madde Keyser sign off on it.

Purple Ribbon BenefIT

March 31st - Mark your calendars and get excited! If you cannot attend, please go into CRS ASAP so we can know who we can count on. Please start telling your parents about this now, so that you can convince them to come. That is also Parent's Weekend, so it shouldn't be too difficult to make both. We have a limited budget, so we will need lots of donations as well as sponsorships. Most importantly - this does not happen without the full support of the chapter. We need all hands on deck. This is going to take a lot of work from all of us.

Service hours are plentiful for this event. Check above under Service Opportunities for the whole list of opportunities.

Tickets can be purchased here. They are $20 online and $30 at the door.
