The doldrums is a belt around the Earth near the equator where sailing ships sometimes get stuck on windless waters.

a belt of calm air and sea occurring in both the northern and southern hemispheres

Trade Winds

The trade winds are the prevailing pattern of easterly surface winds

Prevailing Westerlies

The westerlies, anti-trades, or prevailing westerlies, are prevailing winds from the west toward the east in the middle latitudes

Polar Easterlies

The polar easterlies are the dry, cold prevailing winds that blow from the high-pressure areas

Jet streams are fast flowing, relatively narrow air currents
