Bloody Times By: Lara patel

Bloody Times is a nonfiction book by James L.Swanson. The book is about the funeral for Abraham Lincoln and the manhunt for Jefferson Davis. It takes place in the Southern States of the USA during the time period of 1865-present time.

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the USA. He was important to the book because part of it was about his life and his death. In the book they talk about his early life and what he did when he was president and how/why he was assassinated.

Abraham Lincoln was shot in Fords Theater on April 14, 1865 while he was watching the play "Our American Cousin", and was shot between 10:15 PM and 10:30 PM. The shooter John Wilkes Booth had escaped but he was later captured. On April 15, 1865 Lincoln died at 7:22 AM. This is important because Lincoln was our president at the time when he was shot and there was no security there to guard him.

This was the bullet that killed Lincoln.

7 facts I learned- 1. Abraham Lincoln had four sons, two of which died at young ages. 2. There were two assassins that striked the night Lincoln was shot. 3. Lincoln was shot in the head. 4. They completely destroyed Lincoln's body during the autopsy. 5. They took three days to bury Lincolns body and they left him lying on a table in the White House. 6. Lincoln was 6'4 and they only had 2 inches of space in the coffin after they put him in. 7. Only special people could get a ticket to see the funeral.

I would rate this book a 4/5 because it was interesting and informative but it wasn't exciting.
