Knightly Knews Friday, February 9, 2018

Even though our Wellness Week (National School Counselor's Week) was cut short by one (snow) day, it was a great week--thank you to our fabulous counselors, Mrs. Hartenburg and Mr. Denyes, for helping us all to focus on being well. In the spirit of being well--enjoy some rest, family, friends (and a book) over this snow day and three-day weekend. Check out a few pictures below from our week.

Congratulations to our 523 students whose grades for the 2nd Card Marking placed them on the honor roll. Way to go, Knights--we are so proud you!

Information and activities taking place at school next week are listed below. Stay safe and warm this weekend!

Pictures from the Week

Wellness Week started off with a pre-school walk on Monday; making calming tubes during lunch; healthy prizes for healthy lunches; wearing hats in support of Smith's Relay for Life team; Smith staff learning and sharing to supporting all students at any time; Smith scientists exploring orbital equilibrium and longitudinal and transverse waves; Bowling Club having fun on Wednesday

Electronics Recycling at Smith

Do you have old electronic equipment clustering your home? Smith's Green Team is sponsoring an electronic recycling drive during parent-teacher conferences on March 15! There will be drop-off boxes in the lobby during that time. Bring in your old, unused electronics and be assured that our vendor, Green Tech Recyclers, are fully compliant with all data security and environmentally responsible disposal methods. Please see the flyer below for accepted items. No old-style TVs are accepted!

Troybery 2018

It’s time for Troybery Madness! See Mrs. Chatel’s blog post to learn how your child can participate in our awesome Troy Middle Schools Troybery Reading Program.

Wrestling Begins Soon

The Smith Wrestling program will begin on Wednesday, February 21, for all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders interested in joining. The season begins on February 21st and ends March 21st and we only compete against Baker, Larson, and Boulan Park Middle Schools. All practices will be over by 4:40. All matches are based on weight, grade, and experience level. Please contact Dan Mastrovito at dmastrovito@troy.k12.mi.us with any questions. Physicals are strongly encouraged but not required to wrestle since competition is only in district.

Box Tops

There are only a few more weeks to collect and bring in Box Tops to be considered for the raffle ending on Friday, February 23. For every 10 box tops that you send in, your child will be entered in a contest to win a Froyo party with 10 of their friends. Two winners will be announced. Please contact Cari Coffer at colorcc.222@gmail.com with any questions.
