"It's Hard to Beat a Person Who Never Gives Up." --Babe Ruth Woodlands High School Honors its athletes

Woodlands High School held its Varsity Athletic Awards Night on Wednesday, June 5, paying tribute to the hundreds of student athletes playing this year on the school's varsity teams. Special honors were given to the school's league champions, which included the baseball, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys bowling, girls bowling, fencing, football, girls soccer, girls swimming, boys swimming, volleyball and wrestling teams.

Athletes and their family members were treated to a delicious dinner during the awards ceremony.

Individual teams were recognized by their coaches, and Woodlands Scholar Athletes were also recognized. Senior Teisha Hyman, who will be attending Syracuse University in the fall, had the honor of unveiling a banner with her name on it in the gymnasium, recognizing her 2,065 career points, in 10th place on the all-time Section 1 scoring list. Her classmate, Noe Fleurimond, surpassed the 1,000-point mark in his time on the boys basketball team.

This year's coaches are: Marco Segno, Jeff Bitondo, Adam Capellan, Kevin Austin, Warren Bunkley, Kamal Simmons, Samuel Washington, Bettina Mailman, Ashley Fisher, Jason Parker, Charlene Vasilevsky, Maria Biddle, Anthony Fava, Brian Douglas, Joseph Fava, Pete Befi, Alexis Easterling, Kevin O'Donohue, Andrew Wauben, Jennifer Parra, Thomas Tokarski, Roberta Maloney, Fernando Santos, and Wesley Marshall. Greenburgh Central School District's Athletic Director is Michael McCoy.
