Inspiring Through The Arts
How do you engage and inspire students? Teachers at Silver Ridge Elementary harness the power of the arts and creativity.
Teachers infuse the arts into core academic areas, such as math, science, social studies and language arts. Research backs this approach, linking arts to academic achievement, self-esteem and recall.
Arts-Integrated Curriculum
Arts are woven into traditional subjects. Students express their creativity, critical thinking and innovation skills to demonstrate what they've learned with original pieces of art, whether it's acting out what they've learned about historical figures, using engineering concepts to design a theater set, or creating skyscrapers to represent the link between addition and multiplication.
Developing Art Skills
In addition to learning art skills from their regular classroom teachers, students further explore the arts through art specialists and volunteer artists.
Each classroom partners with an artist or art docent, who introduces students to the basic principles and elements of design, as well as a wide variety of art and artists in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.
