"EITHER OR"

-the suggestions that only two alternatives exist when in fact there is .

ex: "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain"- Harvey Dent ........ ex:"Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing" -Benjamin Franklin

Bandwagon

-A claim that an idea should be favored because a large amount of people favor it.

Examples of bandwagon fallacies

Force and Fear

-trying to get people to do something by causing fear

EX: If you don't play on my team, you will probably get killed. EX: I want you to vote for me or ill have the FBI come get you.

Appeal to Celebrity authority

-When a famous person states a false fact.

EX: My name is George Forman and this is grill is better than any other grill on the market. Ex: Kanye West said "to get the girls all I have to do is rap".

Pity

-Accept the truth of the conclusion out of pity.

Ex: If I don't get my homework done, ill for sure have to drop out and go get an average job because I am stupid. EX: I got cut from the football team so I should just tell myself I will never be successful.
