Vocational Life Skills Fishing Derby, 2019 Hosted by scituate rod & gun club

We ordered bright sunny days for the two Fishing Derbies we hold each year — we only got one, and this derby was not it. Unseasonably for May, the weather was cold and drizzly with intermittent showers.

Upon arrival the first order of business for our guests was to feed the goats we hired to "goat-scape" the vegetation around the pond. The goats did a great job and there was nary a leaf of poison ivy to be found.

A' Fish'n We Will Go!
First fish of the day — a nice Rainbow Trout which was returned to the pond.
If it's too wet and cold to fish it's time for board games in the clubhouse with a nice roaring fire burning in the wood stove.
Fish number two — a Brook Trout, again returned to the pond. Unfortunately that was it for catching fish as the weather had totally put the fish off eating.
These guys weren't put off by the weather.
Fishing is hungry business. Our guests were magicians as they made hot dogs vanish with great rapidity!
No event is complete without a visit from Nona's Ice Cream Truck.
