Caleb Garrett Class Journal Spring 2017

I am planning for my term project to be about critical issues in our society today. I plan to use methods of, minimalism, and simplification of forms to unify my works.

This semester was enlightening! I faced many challenges throughout this semester but the challenges I faced helped my art to be where it is now. I am very excited to be where I am with my art. I feel like I am figuring out who I am as an artist. I struggled at the very beginning of the semester with trying to figure out where I was going to take my art and unsure of what I am capable of. The choice to increase the size of paper I worked with was a breakthrough for me. There were for sure many ways this project could have gone. I would say that this semester was very positive. Looking back I would have wasted no time in making these pieces. I see myself continuing on the path I am on and I'll see where they take me.

POST 4: These pieces are about Standing Rock and the current events that happened with the DAPL. Not only do these pieces tell about the events at Standing Rock but they are about Donald Trump's influence on the DAPL and on the rest of the country.

POST 2: These pieces are on the Dakota Access Pipeline and the problems people face who fight to keep the pipeline off of the Native American's sacred land.
