Lewis & Clark An American Exploration

In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson purchased the Louisiana Territory from France for $15 Million.

Jefferson asked his personal secretary, Meriweather Lewis to explore the territory. Lewis asked his friend William Clark for his help.

Lewis and Clark began their exploration on May 14, 1804 along the Missouri River from the city of St. Louis.
