Fidel Castro was born August 13, 1926 in Cuba and died November 25, 2016 in Cuba.

Fidel Castro was the first leader to bring communism to the Western hemisphere. He grew up as a sugar cane farmer and went to law school. When he graduated he became a lawyer for the poor. Fulgencio Batista was the leader of Cuba before Castro. He was a cruel and dishonest ruler. Fidel and his brother Raul Castro formed a group to attack the Cuban government. They were unsuccessful and the Castro brothers were captured. After being released, they continued to attack until Batista fled from Cuba. Many people left Cuba after Castro changed the government.

Economy: When the Cuban government was changed, the economy started doing better. The Soviet union supported Cuba and helped them out here and there but after the Soviet union split up, the economy got worse and started to struggle.

Empire Building: After the revolution, Castro started building his empire by becoming allies with strong countries and starting trades with others. He continued to build his empire until he could no linger work and had to rest from illness.
