I believe in capturing real moments by creating a fun and relaxed environment for each of my photo shoots. Gone are the days of stressful family photo shoots with forced posed and behind-the-scenes parental threats to “say cheese!”. Expect to play, laugh, run, cuddle with your loved ones!
Don’t worry if you are not comfortable posing for a camera. Many of the moments that I capture are real interactions between you and your loved ones, but don’t think too hard about it-I will give you suggestions on where to stand, sit, and what to do. For the most part, I like to let the young ones take the lead in this area, so that nobody leaves our session feeling grumpy, overworked, and too rushed. You’re welcome to change outfits as many times as you would like!
what to wear
The number one question most families ask is "what do we wear?". I used to just tell families to go with the flow, and wear whatever they want, however, I have since found that wardrobe can REALLY enhance your photos, so it's important to take some time picking out clothes that complement one another.
Before we get to tips about your styling, I am SO excited to offer my clients an amazing new service! To start, this service costs you absolute nothing! I paid anything that needs to be paid. The only thing you will pay for is if you purchase clothing! Since I assume you are going to buy new clothes anyway, why not take the worry out of it right?!
Style & Select cuts out the confusion, time and uncertainty that comes with outfit coordination. You can be fully styled with bottoms, tops, accessories, shoes and much more. Outfits can be the most overwhelming part of your session, so…let this service take one thing off your plate, because you are a parent, one thing off your plate can make a whole world of difference!
Step 1-Start Styling – fill out the questionnaire based on the amount of people in your session, their ages, sizes, vibe and color combos!
Step 2-Results are then shown that correspond with the questionnaire answers. Select items with the heart symbol and view together. After selecting the base outfit, accessories can be selected to complete the look!
Step 3-You will receive your final look and can then click on the shopping links to purchase the clothes directly from the retailers (gap, old navy, torrid, nordstroms, macys etc!).

color
I recommend a neutral color palette with pops of color throughout. So, start with creams, grays, whites, etc., and throw in some light blue, baby pink, soft green. Jeans shirts look amazing in the studio! Choosing neutral color tones for your clothing will help to keep your photographs timeless. Casual outfits that are not too dressy are perfect. Additionally, I have started to collect beautiful outfits for your children that photograph gorgeously in the studio. You are more than welcome to go through my wardrobe collection and pick anything you would like your child to wear.
layer and accessorize
Scarves, sweaters, and layered shirts create a polished look. Use accessorize's as your pop of color like I mentioned above. Try a chunky necklace, a delicate embellished headband for a little girl, or an adorable fedora hat for your little man.
avoid
Say no to logos, tons of words, neon's and bright tones.
Remember, you will want to treasure these photos for years to comel
the day of your session
the studio
The address for the studio is 6668 Orchard Lake Road Suite 206, West Bloomfield
The studio is located inside of the West Bloomfield Plaza on Orchard Lake in between Maple (15 mile) road and 14 mile road
You will want to go through the glass doors next to Subway on either side of the building, and that will take you to the offices
what to bring
Baby essentials (diaper bag)
Snacks for your big kids, hunger-included crankies are not fun, and snacks help up keep things at bay! Please choose snacks that aren’t messy or that can stain clothes, teeth, or faces. I am a mom of two young kids so I am not at all above bribery!
Change of clothes if needed.
Pacifier
Entertainment for the big kids if toys won’t cut it!
I do not use props in any of my photos, so please avoid bringing any props.
cake smash
I highly recommend a white or light color frosting as that is what goes best with the look of the studio
The cake itself should be yellow cake as chocolate cake looks like .... well, you can use your imagination for that onel
Please DO NOT put any red frosting on the cake as it can look like blood on your child's facel
Due to allergies, I ask that you bring your own cake. I recommend kroger and whole foods as their cakes are not only delicious but very inexpensive. Love and Buttercream also does a gorgeous job but they are slightly more expensive.
Bring some small snacks (puffs, goldfish, cheerios, etc.) to stuff into the cake in case your child feels uneasy about the cake itself (which is VERY common I)!
It is up to you what you want to dress your child in for their actual smash. Personally, I prefer just a diaper (I have some plain white diaper covers you can use), or jeans no shirt for boys, bloomers and no shirt or a onesie for girls. I don't like anything to big and fluffy as it takes away from your child's adorableness. If your cake is in the fridge, make sure you take it out the night before so that it is nice, soft, and smashablel
Bring towels, wipes, change of clothes, etc. as your child will get very messyl
And don't worry, the studio cleanup is my jobl
maternity session
Pregnancy is such an amazing time in a women’s life and I truly believe a woman is her most beautiful when she is with child.
Wear clothing that you feel comfortable in! The worst feeling is when you wear something just because you think it might photograph well but that you are uncomfortable or self-conscious in.
Again, stick to the neutral color palette but feel free to add some texture. Long colorful flowered dresses or something with a sparkle or shimmer are both amazing
Casual long and flowy dresses photography beautifully.
We will be using the bed, so a dress isn’t ideal during these shots, so feel free to bring multiple clothing choices.
T-shirts and tanks that hug your body also accentuate your growing belly
There is no perfect clothing item to wear for these photos, the most perfect is the one you are most comfortable in.
how to prepare

Please have on nude colored underwear (boy-short, a thong or high cut briefs are best) and a nude colored strapless bra If your clothing requires that. I do not recommend wearing a regular bra and tucking in the straps, that can lead to a lack of support, and bumpy material under the dress. Sometimes, I will not be able to edit out these imperfections, and it is better for everything to look the best it can during the session rather than trying to fix things later.
Please make sure that the underwear you choose is not too tight (or, go commando!)! Panty lines will show in the form fitting, tight leggings and dresses, and do not look super flattering, just like with any other outfit you wear. It’s better to have loose underwear, then underwear that cuts into your skin and will create visible bumps and indentations under the gown.
after your session
One Week from your session you will receive your proofing gallery.
These are a collection of my favorite photos from your session and are VERY lightly edited
The photos not included in this gallery are photos that are out of focus, unflattering, duplicates, bad facial expressions, photos with your eyes closed, etc.
This gallery will be open for 2 weeks
From this gallery you will choose your 35 FAVORITE photos.
Once you have chosen your favorites, I will then artistically edit and retouch all of these.
My total turnaround time currently is 3-4 weeks for your final product.
Before this, if given permission via your contract, I will post several sneak peaks to my facebook page.
You will receive your final artistically edited and retouched photos in an online gallery where you have the ability to download all of your photos.
You will also be able to purchase prints, canvas prints, metal prints, etc through your gallery.
Once you get your photos, I charge $10 if any additional edits are requested.
Several weeks after you receive your gallery, you will then receive your chosen product.
