Destination Management Plan 2019 - 2025

We are currently preparing a Destination Management Plan that will set out key objectives for tourism development and marketing up to 2025.

VisitEngland encourages and supports the development of Destination Management Plans through England as an essential tool in the delivery of a successful visitor economy.

A Destination Management Plan is a shared statement of intent to manage a destination over a stated period of time, articulating the roles of the different stakeholders and identifying clear actions that they will take and the apportionement of resources.

We are consulting with stakeholders in February and March and we would welcome your input and feedback!

Nenescape Landscape Partnership

Nenescape Landscape Partnership has had an incredible first year, with lots of progress being made on all projects. Particular highlights have been the building of an ancestral barn at Stanwick Lakes, fantastic engagement with children through angling and the production of a feature film set along the River Nene. We’ve also given out four community grants to help smaller organisations tell the story of this landscape.

Barn at Stanwick Lakes

With the second year of five just beginning, you can expect to see lots more opportunities to get involved, including volunteering, events and activities. We’ve also been collecting people’s stories and memories of the River Nene through ‘900 Voices of the River Nene’. Visit www.900voicesofthenene.co.uk to see the archive and add your story. We are delighted to support the Nene Valley Festival and 15 other projects thanks to Heritage Lottery funding raised by National Lottery players.

Building Bridges project

Planning for flagship enterprise centre project gets the green light

Plans for an exciting new enterprise centre in East Northamptonshire have been approved by East Northamptonshire Council’s planning management committee. The new, purpose-built facility is subject to funding approval in the spring. If funding is secured the centre will be located at Warth Park in Raunds and will provide modern, accessible space for small and growing businesses. Once built, the centre will provide 27,000 square feet of flexible office and workshop space with 50-90 flexible units. It’s anticipated that the centre will support 205 businesses and will create 785 jobs in the first 10 years.

The facility will also offer local business support, training and access to networking events with a particular focus on those offered by the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership’s Growth Hub.

It is anticipated that work will start on the site over the summer of 2019 with the centre opening its doors for business in early 2020.
