Screenwriting, also called script writing, is the art and craft of writing scripts for mass media such as feature films, television productions, commercials and video games.

What is a screenplay ?

A screenplay is an extraction of a story that told with pictures. it is the art of visual story telling.

Rules of Screenplay.

Having no rules is the important rule in screenwriting. But There are some tools which we can follow to practice good writing.

Paradigm and 3 Act Structure

Act 1

Introduction of Characters.

In this Act screen Writer Establishes the characters and their needs, so that viewer can come to an idea what the film is about.

Act 2

In Act 2 of a script The protagonist should face an obstacle that makes him achieving his goal. Dramatic need of a character will lead the story to another point.

Act 3

This act is used to resolve the story. The screenwriter concludes whatever he wants to convey in the story and this act connects the previous two acts.

Climax

Things to Remember in screenplay

  • Know What do you want to write.
  • Research
  • Design Your Paradigm
  • Know the Dramatic need of a character.
  • Set the Story with key incidents
  • Know the ending.
