Holiday Happenings Eastchester school district

The spirit of the season spread throughout the Eastchester School District as our parents, students, faculty, staff and administrators enjoyed all that the best this season brings.

Our student musicians performed songs for Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza during their annual shows. The Anne Hutchinson Chorus' rendition of Here, In My House expressed the beauty and peacefulness of the season. Suzanne Greene directed the students with Accompanist Deborah Barto on piano.

Waverly first-graders put smiles on everyone's faces when they performed "Mittens and Gloves." Thank you to Director Katherine Ness.

Our students were also busy at Waverly and Anne Hutchinson making gingerbread houses and sock snowmen.

School communities also opened up their hearts, helping those in need. Greenvale's Ugly Sweater Contest and Toy Drive made the season brighter when students collected six boxes of toys and made a donation to the Eastchester Community Action Program. The Eastchester High School Government Organization also collected more than 700 toys that were donated to the Nepperhan Community Center in Yonkers.

The entire District pitched in to assist the Eastchester Teacher's Association Stockings for Soldiers Campaign, sending more than 300 stockings to the troops in Afghanistan and the Bronx VA Hospital.

Santa visited our students at Anne Hutchinson with assistance from the Tuckahoe-Eastchester Lions Club and the PTA.

Santa also enjoyed the SEPTA Pancake Brunch where families enjoyed great food and sang songs of the season.

Here are some more moments from our Winter Concerts. Our student musicians rehearsed for months with the help of all our directors.

The High School orchestra performed traditional tunes and Broadway hits in addition to holiday selections. Our bands took the stage and no one will forget "Sleigh Ride" when alumi and some familiar faces took the stage. Thank you to School Superintendent Dr. Walter Moran, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Scott Wynne and EHS Principal Dr. Jeffrey Capuano.

Our Eastchester High School Winter Concert featured an American Timeline of holiday music with such favorites as Joy To The World, White Christmas, All I Want For Christmas Is You, performed by individual choirs. The Full Choir ended the evening with Hallelujah!

Happy Holidays!
