What is now the Courtyard Boston Downtown first opened in May of 1925 as the most expensive and lavish Elks Lodge in the country! The Lodge had the largest ballroom in New England and featured amenities such as a bowling alley, squash court, gymnasium, and lavish Turkish Baths. The building remained under the management and ownership of the Elks until the early 1930's, following the onset of the Great Depression. Since that time this grand building has gone through numerous changes. Full of history and charm Courtyard Boston Downtown, this grande dame of the Theater District has been transformed into a hidden gem in Downtown Boston. You can still see the lasting mark the Elks made on our stunning building in the elk head carvings on the frieze molding of the main lobby.
Steps away from all of Boston’s best attractions – Boston Common and Public Garden, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, TD Garden, New England Aquarium, and more!
