Thinking Religion By Andrew Lensmeyer- Exploring the world, one religion at a time.

I visited places all over the world to learn more about religion. Lets just say, I learned a lot. I viewed five different religions. This included Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. Each were very different to the other ones a viewed. Their practices, architecture and beliefs varied, but they are all just religions. Religions that people value every day.

Hinduism has been around for a long time. Even though all of these religions have as well, Hinduism just stuck out to me. The picture above is a Hindu Temple found in Darjeeling, India.
Hinduism is very unique in a way. It is the only religion to have seven ancient holy cities. Just how the Muslims have their five pillars, the Hindus have their seven cities. This is a piece of architecture found in Ayodhya, which is one of the seven Ancient Holy Towns.
I should say this for every religion, but the Buddhist people value their sacred places greatly. Sometimes they feel like they need their temple to worship their gods, and they can't do it anywhere else. This is a Buddhist temple located in Thailand, the country with the most Buddhist supporters. This is where they would practice their religion.
Buddhist architecture and Sacred places are all kind of the same. They are all temples. This is a piece of buddhist architecture also located in Thailand. Buddhist architecture is quite famous, but the most famous pieces are usually the temples, like the picture above.
Judaism practices monotheism. It was funny to me, how much Judaism and Christianity were alike. This is a picture of a Jewish Synagogue. This is where the Jewish practice their religion of Judaism. This is located in the Jerusalem area.
It always struct me when I saw architecture from Israel. Like this one, the colors include white. That was what I always saw. I liked the maroon kind of color in this building as well. This is one of the famous pieces of Jewish architecture located in Israel as well..
You know I couldn't have done this religion blog without the Taj Mahal. It is one of the most famous pieces of Islamic architecture. It is located in Agra, India. It is now a famous tourist landmark for everyone to see throughout the world.
This here is a famous Mosque located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This is where people once used to practice their Islam religion. I don't know why I noticed this, but the license plates on the cars really tell you that this isn't Texas anymore!
The last religion I explored was Christianity. It was funny, really, because I didn't even have to go out of the country for this one. This is one of the typical designs for a Christian Church, where people would practice their religion.
I decided to do something a little different here. This is a famous picture of Mary and her son, Jesus. I thought I could do art instead of architecture in this one because art was so abundant in this religion.

Thank you for reading my blog! I hope this has inspired you to go explore the religions of the world too!
