Every Monday morning, 10 - 20 Mens Shed guys meet on ZOOM without any care for how close we are to the next guy on the screen. It's great to catch up with one another, and the goings on at The Shed.
You should squeeze in next week. We'll all scooch over for you.
Welcome our newest member Roy W. Roy is an avid golfer, and used to be a Snowbird, but he's going to perch here with us this winter.
Mackie House Men's Shed Social
We recently had a perfect day to gather, visit responsibly, hear our five year strategic vision proposal, and to celebrate our accomplishments.
Thanks to Bill A, and John R for putting on an amazing lunch!
Food always adds to the fun. Especially the desert...right, Steve?
An amazing array of talents and backgrounds gather at Men's Shed Vernon.
A great day for guys to gather in the late summer sunshine.
We heard from Gord, a visiting friend, on the great work being done in Alberta by "Sleep In Heavenly Peace", who are making free beds for kids who have to sleep on the floor.
Is there a champion here for this outreach?
Our Men's Shed friend, Jim P stopped by one day to say that he saw this great, sturdy bench up at the Rogers Pass Visitor Centre. He said he HAD to have one just like it for the Allan Brooks Nature centre, and wanted to know if the Men's Shed guys would build him one .
Of course we said ...YES!
Dave A volunteered to be the point man for the project. He even drove up there himself to take a look and a few measurements.
We got a deep community contribution discount on the cedar from John H. Wow...this is coming together!
The guys got to work cutting, joining, planing, drilling, and assembling. They even delivered and installed the bench for Jim and his crew.
Mel H convinced these three lovely ladies from his family to model our handiwork!
Jim's team put a nice finish coat on the bench to preserve it for years to come.
Another Men's Shed "Made For Vernon" project. Well done guys.
Do any of you remember that game from the 80's or 90's called Lite Brite?
Well, Men's Shed built one FIVE TIMES the normal size as a new interactive attraction at The Okanagan Science Centre!
First...Roy programmed the CNC router to cut over 300 identical holes to accept the liquid filled "Pegs". They turned out just right.
The game faces of the Super Lite Brite were painted black.
Garth and Bruce K fitted LED light circuits.
Stop by the Okanagan Science Centre at Polson Park in downtown Vernon, and try your hand at a Lite Brite design of your own.
