MATH

We are about to begin one of the more difficult topics of the year, regrouping. In order for students to be successful at regrouping they will need to be both fluent and accurate in both basic addition and subtraction facts. Please make sure you children are practicing these at home. IXL topics G and I will be helpful review during this next unit.

Engineering

During engineering students have been working on designing a basket that will be able to carry apples. Please enjoy some pictures from the planning phase of their work.

Sharing their ideas and deciding which parts of their designs they will use as a group.

Preparing to create their group plan.

Working together to select the best ideas.

Scholastic Book Order

For those of you who did not get your order in before the 7th it is not too late! I can still submit orders until December 15th at NOON and they are guaranteed to arrive by December 19th. The gift of reading is one of the best you can give this holiday season! Please shop using out classroom code and support our classroom! Shop at https://clubs.scholastic.com/ using our classroom code P6MM8

Literacy

As a class we have created a student centered rubric that is used for grading their response to text answers. Students have been learning to self evaluate and reflect on their own work. Doing this makes it very clear what they need to do in order to be successful.

Second Grade News

I am happy to announce that Miss Bushee has recently given birth to a healthy happy baby boy! We hope she is having a wonderful time bonding with her newborn and we look forward to having her back after her maternity leave. In the meantime we are happy to welcome Mrs. Macone to our team.
