John Cabot worked for a merchant most of his early life.

John Cabot's voyages were sponsored by his home country Italy. His motive was to find a new route to Asia to claim land for Europe. He wanted to take part in the trade of silks and spices that he saw people bring from Asia.

Johns main voyage was from Europe to North America. He also traveled part of the Atlantic Ocean and scouted the shore of Greenland.John Cabot also claimed land in Canada thinking it was Asia.

John Cabot had a positive impact England because he found Canada. He claimed part of land for England. He helped England start many more colonies by claiming Canada and part of America.
