The Instructor's Guide to Refining Dancer Movement Spine, Hip, Ankle/Foot

Choosing exercises to help influence dancer’s movement can be tricky…Let us share with you some assessments and exercises that we have found to be most successful. We have put together some KEY movement assessments and exercises to help improve our dancer's movement patterns. Come check out our DANCE TEACHER WORKSHOP...

HOSTED AT: Body Dynamics

410 S. Maple Avenue, Suite 100

Falls Church, VA 22046

WHEN: August 12-13, 2017

This two-day workshop will provide dance teachers/educators with tools to observe dancer's movements for compensatory strategies due to stiffness, tightness, or difficulty with controlling movement. At the conclusion of the workshop, the participant will be able to recognize movement dysfunctions and intervene with specific exercises to help improve the movement of the spine, hip, and ankle/foot for the individual dancer. BDI will provide a certificate of completion to each participant, and, upon request, documentation to support application for CEU credits. Individual attendees are responsible for obtaining CEU’s from relevant accrediting bodies (e.g., NDEO).

The lectures and movement sessions will be provided by Physical Therapists and Movement Specialists/Trainers from the Body Dynamics Performing Arts Medicine Team. Members of this team direct and manage the Health and Wellness Program for The Washington Ballet and Washington School of Ballet and all share a passion for treating and educating the dance community.
