Augusto Pinochet By: Trent lutz

"During 65 years, I have walked the path of duty and discipline... And today, looking back at that long path of service, my soldier's heart stirs and murmurs from deep within: Thank you. Thank you, my homeland."

Augusto Pinochet was born November 25, 1915 in Valparaíso, Chile and died December 10, 2006 in Santiago, Chile.

Pinochet joined the Chilean army in 1935 after he graduated from the Military Academy. He went through the ranks and then was appointed Commander in Chief by President Salvador Allende in 1973. A month later, Pinochet led the military coup that overthrew Allende. A year after that Pinochet became President.

Power and Authority- He fits into this because he was commander in chief and president for 16 years.
