"Easily one of the most exciting acts to emerge out of Denver in 2018." 303 MAGAZINE
"One of the best Colorado albums of 2018." COLORADO PUBLIC RADIO OPENAIR
"....Soul-shaking vocals. We can't wait to hear more." WESTWORD
Oxeye Daisy began in 2017 in Denver, built on a shared love of Kate Bush, Yo La Tengo, the Cranberries, and Bieber's early stuff. Guitarist Lela Roy's soaring voice powers the band's songs, which mine the sounds of dream-pop, 90s alternative rock, and experimental indie. Eddie Schmid (bass) and Ramel Sanchez (drums) are the band's driving backbone, Daniel DiMarchi (guitar, synth) adds dreamy textures, and Stephen Pamas (guitar, synth) adds honeyed vocal harmonies and tuneful leads. After honing their sound in Colorado basements, the group went on to record their debut album. Within a month of its release in May 2018, it was named one of the "best Colorado albums of the year so far" by Colorado Public Radio. The band later performed at Denver's 2018 Underground Music Showcase, where they were called a "must-see" act by Westword and 5280 Magazine. Westword also called them "Best New Rock Band" in their Best of Denver 2019 awards.
"Easily one of the most exciting acts to emerge out of Denver this year, we’re eager to see this band evolve throughout 2019 ... Singer and guitarist Lela Roy’s powerful vocals exude authenticity while she confidently expands her voice to guide the energy of each track." 303 MAGAZINE, "13 Local Bands to Watch Out For in 2019"
"One of Denver's best pop bands." WESTWORD, December 20, 2018
["Where Your Mind Goes"] is a screaming introduction to the Denver four-piece, one that posits it as the city’s best answer to the glut of ’90s-nostalgia-plumbing rock outfits that have sprung up in the last few years (Charly Bliss, Darlia, Sorority Noise et al.)." THE DENVER POST album review of Oxeye Daisy
"Denver power-pop band Oxeye Daisy come across as a kind of 21st-century Blondie on their self-titled album." - COLORADO SPRINGS INDEPENDENT
"Oxeye Daisy Blossoms in Denver." WESTWORD Interview with lead singer / songwriter Lela Roy
"Oxeye Daisy describes itself as "the Cranberries on acid," and "sunshowery shoegazey tunes," but that doesn't get at the intricacy and sophistication of the dream-pop outfit's song structure or the control of Lela Roy's soul-shaking vocals." - WESTWORD, September 15, 2017
"Oxeye Daisy has seemingly leapt past 90s alt-rock nostalgia into a musical zone that, sure, bears the influences of that era, but that is more energized atmospheric pop than anything throwback. Its sound is very much of the present and fans of Wye Oak and Japanese Breakfast should take note." - Tom Murphy, QUEEN CITY SOUNDS AND ART
