The 2018 A&M-Kingsville Junior Agricultural Mechanics Show was held on Monday, April 23. Students from all over South Texas showed off their skills building professional types of trailers, BBQ pits and other items.

ABILENE, Texas – After an excellent showing on the front nine, sophomore Reanna De La Cruz (Austin, Texas) shot a six-over 77 in the final round of the Lone Star Conference Championships and moved up three spots to finish tied for 23rd on Tuesday at the Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene, Texas.

As a team, the Javelinas posted a score of +43 on Tuesday to finish the tournament with an 88-over 656, putting them in eighth place.

"We were very close to a great round today," said coach Stefanie Gray. "The girls played hard and gave it their all. I'm excited to see what they can do to build off the great stretches we had in this tournament heading into the PGA Minority Championships." Read more on the Javelina Athletics website below.

Cervantes Claims Second LSC Outdoor Weekly Honor:

From Javelina Athletics: RICHARDSON, Texas (LSC/TAMUK) – A familiar sight in the Lone Star Conference press releases, redshirt-junior Richard Cervantes (Mission, Texas) was named the LSC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Wednesday for his standout performance at the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, La., over the weekend.

Cervantes had a busy weekend at the LSU Alumni Gold meet as he recorded two NCAA automatic qualifying marks, broke his own school record in the shot put and took home one event win while tying for first in the other.

The Sharyland H.S. product launched the shot put 63-2.75 (19.27m) for his first NCAA Automatic Qualifying mark of the day, breaking his own school record by nearly two feet to tie for first in the event, and followed up with a hurl of 184-0 (56.08m) in the discus to pace the field for the top spot and his second automatic qualifying mark. Work of artist Julia Curran now on display at Bailey Gallery:

St. Louis artist Julia Curran’s recent work is on display at the Ben Bailey Art Gallery at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Her exhibit is titled simply Julia Curran: Recent Work and will be exhibited through Thursday, May 31. The Bailey Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Fourth Annual Music Day set Saturday, April 28:

The Fourth Annual Javelina Music Day sponsored by the National Association for Music Education will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Bellamah Music Building at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The special day is free and open to the public.

Different music stations including an instruments petting zoo, movement and dance, international culture and music and iPad games will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 1 p.m. a lullaby concert will be held in room 106.
