It's basically December and with our previous update we thought things couldn't get more exciting, but the kindness, excitement and generosity of the past few months has truly blown us away, which is why we just have to share some of the details with you!
Term 3&4 in Retrospect:
After much preparation, with September came our opportunity to participate in Cecchetti Test 1 & 2 Exams! And we are delighted that each participant could do their best and improve on their former marks, all passing well with merit! We especially want to thank teacher Kayla Geldenhuys for her help in our preparation, pianist Esther de Jager for her gift of musical accompaniment to our final rehearsals and exams, and Zanelle Wessels for use of studio in these exams!
We were delighted that the company's director, Sue Kirkland, and her team noted our hard work and polished performance!
Despite transport challenges, an EFF uprising in Pretoria Central and power outage that almost caused a cancelled performance, the show went on and we saw God's miraculous provision yet again in every instance!
Our highlights include: The fact that that their parents got to attend their performances, thanks to Ultima Financial Planners' contribution for their tickets! The enormity of the Opera stage, getting to partake in the delightful treats of the Cinders and Mice party and the honour of experiencing the discipline yet fun of such a professional environment, also made for memories and lessons for a lifetime!
November also ended with our 22 Grade 1 and 2 girls' first opportunity to dance on stage with their participation in Twinkle Toes' The Paradox of Christmas at Doxa Deo Brooklyn!
Not only did this involve proper costuming, make-up and participation in four dances...
But all 22 had a sleepover at Pure Hope Kids' principal, Riana Andersen's home, to make transport between rehearsals and the performance possible!
Together with Twinkle Toes' students, teacher Larissa Zeelie helped these dancers bring the message of Christ as the real gift and meaning of Christmas, and we trust that they will also remember this in their own celebrations each festive season!
