Maybe you've heard about the importance of STEM - science, technology, engineering and math - as one of the essential elements of 21st century learning. But add in Art - and you not only have another cool acronym - but more importantly you add whole new dimensions of design creativity and engagement. This was full display this week as CCS Art Teacher Joy Danila teamed up with 6th grade science teacher Christa Duthie-Fox for a scribblebot design challenge. Given batteries, some wire, a motor and a bin of art supplies - students were asked to create something that could autonomously create scribble designs. The outcome - 45 minutes of rambunctious fun and great hands-on learning about circuits, balance and creative problem solving. Check out a few highlights below.
