Delos is one of the most important mythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece. The island -which was first inhabited around the 3rd Millennium BC- was originally used by pirates. 2,000 years later -around 1000 BC- the Ionians colonized Delos and made it their religious capital. As the years progressed the island became an increasingly important religious sanctuary and Greek mythology declared it to be the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis.

Afterwards you will proceed to the uninhabited Island of Rhenia for a swim in the crystal clear waters. Around 2:00 pm you will sail on to one of Mykonos’ famous beach clubs where you will enjoy lunch at the restaurant and a day on the water.

In ancient Greece Santorini was known as ‘Strongili’ meaning: round. It was a large and wealthy island. However, about 3,600 years ago, at the height of the Minoan civilization, it was torn apart by a tremendous volcanic eruption. The devastating explosion literally ripped the island to pieces and where land stood, Santorini’s famous caldera was created.

Saturday June 24th to Tuesday June 27th : days at leisure

Today you will have the opportunity to enjoy Santorini and the village of Oia at leisure.

Optional Tour: Discover Santorini Tour (vehicle and entrance tickets included)

In the morning you will drive south across the island and your first stop will be the archaeological site of Akrotiri.

Akrotiri is a 5,000 year old Minoan settlement which has been preserved in ash. Indeed the town was entirely buried in the great volcanic eruption and remained untouched until it was discovered in 1967. This was possibly the most technologically advanced city of its time. Even though it is a prehistoric city which existed centuries before such things are money was invented, its inhabitants enjoyed hot and cold running water, as well as indoor bathrooms.

After your visit you will proceed to the village of Pyrgos. This charming settlement dates from medieval times and is located on a hill overlooking the island. At the highest point stand the ruins of a Venetian castle and below it the village of Pyrgos.

You will then proceed a small distance to the village of Megalochori and the Venetsano winery which is located on its outskirts. Megalochori is one of the more traditional and quieter villages of the island. Here you will enjoy a short walk through the ancient streets of the village and discover Santorini as it once was. You will have the opportunity to see dwellings which were built in the traditional Cycladic architecture and to walk through the tight streets which were designed as such in order to make the village more defendable against pirate attacks.

You will then be driven to Fira, the capital of Santorini. It is renowned for its traditional architecture and dramatic views, which combine to create a stunning setting. Walking through the ancient streets, you will discover a bustling center with numerous boutiques, restaurants and cafes. Here you will also have a chance to visit the Archeological Museum and Museum of Prehistoric Thera which contain artifacts dating all the way back to 3,000 BC.

After your visit you will return to your hotel where your tour will end.

Optional Tour: Private Sunset Cruise

At 1:45 pm you will be picked up from the Vedema and you will be transferred to the port for your sunset cruise.

This cruise, which lasts about 5 hours combines swimming and snorkelling, dinner on board and sailing across the sea while the sun is setting. During your tour you will have the opportunity to visit the Hot Springs, sail past the Volcano and admire the beautiful coastline and beaches, while swimming at various locations at your leisure. As the sun is setting you will make your way back towards the port and enjoy the dreamy view. The cruise includes dinner and drinks on board.

Optional Tour: Hike from Fira to Oia

Enjoy a guided walking tour on Santorini's most impressive path, right on the rim of the famous volcanic caldera. Follow the footsteps of ancient merchants, farmers and sailors, and experience a once in a lifetime adventure. This path takes you along the edge of the super volcano that inspired the myth of Atlantis. Your local guide will take you through traditional whitewashed settlements, at the only inhabited caldera in the world. Marvel at the azure sea and the breathtaking landscape, while learning about the rich myths and history of Santorini. Starting from Fira and ending in Oia, you will enjoy extraordinary views, visit unique places of interest and capture exceptional photographic moments. Immerse yourselves into the island life and enjoy the bright sky, the endless horizon, and the true wonder of nature that is Santorini.

Optional Tour: Santorini Wanderlust

Walk alongside beautiful mansions, explore quaint rural houses and discover the charm of Santorini’s abandoned neighborhoods. Visit a traditional winery to taste the local volcanic wines, and stop by a unique microbrewery for a fresh beer tasting experience. Your local guide will take you to the countryside where you will get to meet locals still living there, and learn about professions and crafts that no longer exist.
