I heard a great story piece on NPR's Morning Edition this morning. It was a StoryCorps recording. The Dad and his son are talking:
Son: I was a little scared for you. Sometimes I wouldn’t know where you were, and I was scared before I went to bed (cries)
Dad: It’s ok, pa. It’s alright.
Son: It wasn’t good, but now, in the apartment you have, when we like go to see you, I feel safer and I feel that you are safe. And I feel like you are a dad, ‘cause um–
Dad: So what does that mean? What is to be a dad mean? This is very interesting.
Then the son tells his dad about a great poem they have on the wall at his school. It was so great I had to go find the whole poem. Here it is:
