Florida Southern College opened a new Creative Space in the second floor Lake Hollingsworth Apartments clubhouse.

Terrance D’Avilla was the student who spearheaded the project and helped clean and renovate the space over the last few months.

FSC Student Mady Lauderman writes on the chalkboard wall.

The Creative Space includes an audio control room to record lines of dialogue or music. There is also an open area that includes a chalkboard wall and large wall-mounted whiteboards.

“I think the Creative Space is for creative people to express themselves,” Florida Southern Student Jackie Carlton said. “I think it’s super amazing and cool.”

The Creative Space was a completely student-led endeavor. The only assets that came from an administrative level were the budget and permission to use the Lake Hollingsworth clubhouse.

Florida Southern Student Julia Licona said she is grateful for the new space.

Students using the Creative Space

“It just makes me overwhelmingly happy that they are making a space for the creative people,” Licona said. “It makes me humbled that they made a space for us.”

As for the future of the Creative Space, there have been discussions about using the first floor for creative work. If you are interested in using the space, you can fill out the MocSync form.
