AMVC Management Services
I was given the opportunity to be a summer intern for the summer of 2014 at an AMVC managed 2,500 head multiplier sow farm in southern Ohio. At this location I was first introduced to all of the stages of production on a sow farm and became proficient in farrowing, breeding, and gestation.
During the summer of 2016 I was given another opportunity to be an summer intern with AMVC. As a second year intern I helped manage the first year intern research projects and preformed data analysis around effects of vaccines. My main project for the summer was to preform Common Industry Audits on all AMVC managed sow farms in Ohio and Indiana.
During the summer of 2015 I traveled to South Dakota to intern at PIC's APEX Genetic Nucleus Unit. During my experience I worked in farrowing, breeding, gestation, nursery, and participated at the boar stud. Over the summer I was able to see how little details make a big difference when perfecting swine genetics.
