Anne Boleyn RENAISSANCE & REFORMATION Project by:Kania Ferrell

Anne Boleyn was the second wife of King Henry VIII. Her exact date of birth is debated, but it is known that she was born in 1501 in Norfolk, England.

Anne is the mother of Queen Elizabeth I. She gave birth to Elizabeth I September 7, 1533, after refusing to be Henry Percy's mistress. Henry desperately wanted Anne so he started a petition for the annulment from Queen Catherine. When they discovered Anne was pregnant they got married in a secret ceremony without the pope's blessing on January 25, 1533.

Anne Boleyn was the daughter of Thomas Boleyn and Lady Elizabeth Howard. In 1513 she was invited to join the school of Margaret Archduchess of Austria. She stayed in France with Queen Mary and completed her study of French. Soon Anne was called back to England where she began attracting many men, soon King Henry even fell in love.

When Anne miscarried for the second time King Henry claimed he was seduced into the marriage by deception. He wanted annulment from this marriage also, and even proposed false charges including adultery, incest, and conspiracy. Anne was Beheaded on May 19, 1536 at the Tower Green in London.

Anne accomplished many things. Anne gave birth to one of the greatest British monarchs, Queen Elizabeth I. Anne also became the Queen of England without being a princess by birth. Anne was also generous to poor.

Anne's accomplishments relate to the larger narrative of the reformation because she supported the Protestant reform, which allowed common people to hear and read the word of God in a language they could understand.

We can learn from Anne Boleyn to not settle for less, education is important, be generous, and not settle for being a side chick.
