Welcome to Forsyth Academy Academies of creative Education

Welcome!

We are excited to welcome you to Forsyth Academy for the 20/21 School Year! Students from across Forsyth County join us for many reasons, but we are here to meet you where you are and work with you to achieve your goals. In starting the new school year, we would like to review our expectations, introduce you to some new faces, and share some updates with you. We look forward to being a part of your educational journey this year whether that is through a face to face personalized learning environment or if you have chosen to learn virtually from home.

Introductions

Ms. Kelli Cox

Ms. Cox joins us as a math teacher from previously teaching at North Forsyth High School. We have enjoyed her enthusiasm and positive energy this year and know students will enjoy learning from her at Forsyth Academy!

Mr. Randolph Thrower

Mr. Thrower is excited to work with the students at Forsyth Academy. He has worked as a school counselor in the district for 10 years can't wait to see what students at FA can accomplish this year!

Ms. Gail Freund

Ms. Freund has worked with students at Forsyth Academy in a student support role for the past three years. She is looking forward to continuing to build relationships with students and families in her role as assistant principal.

Safety Updates

We have had questions as to safety measures that we are taking at this time. We expect students to wear masks in the hallways and classrooms. We will be following enhanced cleaning procedures of our technology utilized for classroom learning. Students may bring water bottles from home to drink water while at school. Restrooms will be available for hand washing. Nurse Hickmon will assist in determining a course of action if students or staff do not feel well while at school. We encourage students to work from home on any day in which they have a fever, headache, or cold symptoms. For additional information, please visit Restart Forsyth.

Teacher Welcome

Teacher Introductions and Welcome

Forsyth Academy Teachers and Staff are excited for your return to school whether you will be joining us in the building or virtually.

At Forsyth Academy, school looks a little different than it does at a base school. Please read through and let us know if you have any questions!

For our work from home students, you will be expected to log in at your assigned class times. While your teachers will be answering communication throughout the school day, they will have a class period in the afternoon when they will be available for questions and extra help. You may utilize these specific times as well as face to face help on Friday mornings from 9 am to noon.

Transportation

For our face to face students, we have a new traffic flow in the front of the building. Students dropped off in the front will need to be prepared to exit the car upon arrival as we now have one line for traffic. There will be a front or a back parking lot assigned to students who drive. You may park in either lot if you come for extra help on Friday mornings. Morning bus riders will depart behind the back student parking lot this year. You will receive additional information on your first day.

We are looking forward to a great year. We are uniquely equipped to meet the challenges of the current pandemic situation. Our goal is to support student learning so that students may achieve graduation and reach their college and/or career goals. We look forward to working together to help our students identify how they can be successful and academically thrive through supportive school relationships. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns that we can help work through with your family.
