Who gives food aid? World fooD programme

The world food programme is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and the world's largest humanitarian organization.

IT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1961 BY GEORGE MCGOVERN.

Its vision is a "world in which every man, women and child access at al times to the food needed for an active and healthy life.

The head office is in Italy, Rome. It has more than 80 countr offices arround the world.

According to the WFP it provides food assistance to 80 million people in 75 countries each year.

The WFP has a staff of about 11,500 people, the majority of whom work in remote areas.

They provide all types of food, by plane, cars and botes.

In 2008 they generated more than 148 million dollars destinated for food. It costs 25 US cents a day for WFP to feed a refugee.
