Your dining experience at UVM is more than great food. It is a community experience centered on culinary expertise, fresh ingredients, healthy options, and a shared sense of environmental and social responsibility.

UVM Dining has always prioritized the health and safety of our guests and staff. Now, more than ever, we are committed to ensuring students have access to safe, nutritious food by implementing new standards and technology during this unprecedented time.

Meal Swipes into our "Traditional" Dining Halls + 150 Retail Points + Three Guest Meals per semester

This meal plan guarantees meals from the first day of classes to the last day of the semester. As a First Year Student, you can stay on the Unlimited Access Meal Plan or switch to the Retail Point or Flex Plan within the first two weeks of the semester. Traditional Dining Halls...

  • Dining spaces with different sizes with unique layouts
  • Similar stations that serve a varied daily menu
  • A variety of seating options

Retail Points

Retail Points are a declining balance account; they add flexibility and convenience to your meal plan.

  • One Retail Point is valued at one dollar
  • Budgeting is required
  • Accepted at all on-campus dining locations (NOTE: Some locations are Retail Points only)
  • Retail Point balances roll from fall to spring semester but not the next academic year

Retail Locations...

  • Meals-to-go or dine-in
  • Options include cafes, local dining destinations and convenience stores
  • Favorites include sushi, smoothies, burritos, crepes, bagel sandwiches, and UVM ice cream!


Can I add Retail Points to my account?

  • Yes! Visit UVMdining.com "Shop Now"
  • The balance of any additional Retail Points added roll semester to semester, year to year as long as you are at UVM

Guest Meals

  • Guest meals are used to treat a friend or family member
  • Can only be used in the traditional dining halls

Food Allergies & Intolerances

We know that some students have food allergies or intolerances. If this is true for you, we highly encourage you to contact our Registered Dietitian, so we know how best to accommodate you.

Simple Servings

Offers plated entrees for lunch and dinner made without the seven most common allergens: peanuts, tree-nuts, shellfish, wheat, soy, milk, and eggs.

  • Located at Harris Millis Dining and Central Campus Dining
  • Procedures are in place to control for cross-contact
  • Separate equipment, utensils, storage areas, and preparation areas


Offers hot plated entrees free of four of the top allergens: gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, and shellfish.

  • Four is located at Redstone Unlimited and The Marketplace
  • Like Simple Servings, we take precautions to reduce the risk of cross-contact

Do you offer vegan and vegetarian menu options?

Yes. Our vegetarian and vegan menu items are indicated with a "V" for vegetarian or "VG" for vegan. Mindful our healthy choice offering, is shown with a heart-shaped apple (see below).

Vermont First

At UVM we pride ourselves on our sustainability initiatives and programs, including our Vermont First program. Vermont First is our commitment to purchasing from local producers within Vermont plus 30 miles.

Real Food Challenge

We also track our humane, fair-trade, organic, and local food purchases through our participation in the national Real Food Challenge. We are proud to report that 26% of our purchases are "Real Food". Both of these commitments have led us to develop numerous partnerships with local farmers and producers, who often visit the campus for tastings and special events like our Cheese and Dairy Fest.
