Caerphilly Castle

Caerphilly Castle is the highlight of the Caerphilly area, with its beauty that has been around for centuries. Caerphilly Castle was built in the 13th century by Gilbert De Clare.

The Castle also gives guests the opportunity to use this as a venue for their wedding as shown in the images above.

As well as its national history the castle also have a tale of romance, betrayal and tragedy which is centered around the death of Alice, Gilbert's wife, upon hearing the news her lover is to be killed Alice jumps off the highest peak of the castle and dies, the story is told that she is in search of her lover Gruffydd. Alice is know known as the Green Lady, her dress is supposedly to symbolize Gilbert's jelousy.

There is a wide range of Shops in Caerphilly however if you want more of a choice you can visit Cardiff on any the A, B or 26 bus for £5 return for an adult, if you would rather take a train through the valleys this has a fare of £6.90 return. Shops in Caerphilly include Peacocks, New Look, Greggs, Boots and Poundland. For a wider range of designer shops Cardiff is the place to go. This is a short 20 minutes journey via the Train network and a 30 minute journey on a bus.

Within walking distance of the Traveloge is a leisure centre, this is used locally with a library card giving free access to the pool. Apart from the pool there is a huge gym, trampolines, bar and canteen area. Where it is possible to use all available facilities and to grow in sport with trained professionals throughout to support you in what you decide to do.

Just across from the beach is the wonders of the Dr Who experience this is suitable for all ages as many older generations grew up watching the wonders of Dr Who as a child. With entry ranging from £11-35 it is best to book in advance for an experience out of this world.
