The Rebel Report September 3, 2021

Above: Jim "Basketball" Jones delighted our 6th grade students during an assembly on Thursday. He reinforced the importance of kindness, cooperation, and resilience. A great message for our students and staff to hear during a wonderful 1st week!

Weekly Schedule

The school calendar below is starting to populate with athletics, clubs, and intramural sports. Checking this space each week will keep you well informed!

Picture Makeup Day Friday

Students who were unable to attend Picture Day during Registration should plan for retake day on Friday. We will announce specific times over the PA during that day.

Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures

We made it through the first week! If you are using the pickup and drop off lines, you now are aware of our challenges in getting so many cars through the line in a short period of time.

In case you were unable to review the information I shared last week, I am reposting it once again.

First and foremost, if your student receives bus service, please encourage/require them to use it! Busses follow all district safety protocols and will save you the headache of the daily traffic snag in our lot. Of course, your students would prefer being dropped off by you each day at the door, but bus service is the safest and most efficient method of transporting your student to and from Larson each day. Even if your student uses bus transportation home only, that would help make things run more smoothly.

You might also consider a carpool system with neighbors. Every bit helps!

If you do choose to drop off and/or pick up each day, please review the information below very carefully. Ensuring the safety of our students and staff as they enter and exit the building is our highest priority.

Football Starts Tuesday!

7th and 8th Grade Boys interested in playing Tackle Football should plan to stay for practice after school starting on Tuesday. If your Rebel is interested, please have them join the LMS Football Schoology group, the code is S74TF-DZ8CJ AND sign up on FinalForms. Practice starts Tuesday September 7. Practices generally go from 3-5 almost everyday after school.

A current physical is required for your student to participate. Questions? Please contact Coach Koskinen (gkoskinen@troy.k12.mi.us)

7th/8th Larson Cheerleading Tryouts

7th and 8th Grade girls who are interested in cheerleading should review the information below. Tryouts begin Tuesday and there are no cuts! All girls interested in participating must have a physical on file.

Fall Intramural Sports

We offer 3 fall intramural sports for students: Co-Ed Flag Football, Co-Ed Cross Country, and Girls' Basketball. Look for more information in next week's Rebel Report.

Students interested in IM sports or clubs must pay the club/intramural fee. $50 provides unlimited access to all intramural sports and clubs for the entire school year! Please have your student pick this form up in the office. Payment is completed via SchoolPay.

7th/8th Girls Basketball Tryouts

We are excited to share that girls’ 7th and 8th grade basketball is back and will begin the week of Labor Day here at Larson. Tryouts that will start on Tuesday, September 7th. Health Care Aide Positions Available

Larson and many other TSD schools are in dire need of parents who would be willing to serve as paid health care aides during the school day. If you are interested in serving in this role at Larson or another TSD school, please check out the flyer or contact me!

SchoolPay

While all meals are free once again this year, we plan to offer ‘a la carte’ items for both breakfast and lunch. Our goal is to keep all transactions cash free this year. You can add funds to your student's account via School Pay. We will use this system for most school transactions, including iPad insurance, field trip payments, and more. Info below.
