US Sailing Adult National Championships offer all types of opportunities for competitive sailors to race at a high level and test their abilities against quality competition from around the country. Our dedicated National Championship hosts provide a first-class regatta experience with outstanding hospitality and great race management. We offer National Championships for many different disciplines, including single-, double-, and triplehanded boats, as well as fleet, match and team racing formats for both men and women. Our National Championships also provide sailors with opportunities to further develop their skills, while networking with fellow sailors and making new friends.

The C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta to host 2018 U.S. Para Sailing Championship

This year’s Championships will be raced in three fleets, all of which are adapted for sailors with disabilities.

  • The U.S. Para Sailing Singlehanded Championship for the Judd Goldman Trophy will be raced in the 2.4mR class.
  • The U.S. Para Sailing Doublehanded Championship for the Chandler Hovey Trophy will be raced in the RS Venture Connect.
  • The U.S. Para Sailing Triplehanded Championship for the Gene Hinkel Trophy will be raced in Sonars.

The International Women's Keelboat Championship provides women keelboat and offshore sailors high-quality racing and an opportunity to compete against top national and international sailors for the Bengt Julin Trophy.

  • Racing format based on the Championship League – short flights of 10 boats each with races lasting about 10-15 minutes in the J/70.
  • Top American boat will be the U.S. representative at the 2019 Sailing Championship League World qualifier.
  • Selection by application / resume: Cut-off date to apply for invitation - July 15, 2018

Top Women's Match Racing Teams compete for the Allegra Knapp Mertz Trophy

  • The competition is a match race regatta between teams of all-female sailors on J/22 keelboats.
  • Top placing eligible skipper will be invited to the 2018 U.S. Match Racing Championship hosted by Chicago Yacht Club on October 19-21, 2018.

The U.S. Team Racing Championship includes an impressive list of accomplished teams and experienced team racers from top-notch one-design sailors in fleet racing circles to current and former college sailors and coaches, both men and women.

  • This Championship will be raced in three-boat / six-person teams in the 420E by Zim Sailing
  • Teams will be racing for the George R. Hinman Trophy
  • Application forms are due between June 8 - July 27, 2018

One-design class champions race for the Jack Brown Trophy

  • Applicants must have won a one-design class National, North American or World Championship as helm between August 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018 to compete.
  • The 2018 Championship will be contested in the Y-Flyer.
October 19 - 21, 2018 / Chicago YC & Chicago Match Racing Center

Winning team comprised of 100 percent U.S. citizens will earn title of U.S. Match Racing National Champion and will qualify to represent U.S. in Open Division at World Sailing’s 2018 Nations Cup Regional Qualifier, an international match racing championship.

  • Overall winning team, regardless of team members’ nationality, will earn the Prince of Wales Bowl and automatically qualify for next year’s U.S. Match Racing Championship.
  • This year's Championship will be raced in Sonars.
