Virtual-Only Events Through the End of 2020
Greetings from the GC team. In support of the directives issued by Governor Dewine, Governor Beshear and the University of Cincinnati, and with the well-being of the Goering Center staff and members in mind, we have canceled all face-to-face events through the end of 2020. We have instead developed a schedule of virtual events to continue to support our members at this critical time. Please view our calendar of events for our revised programming. Thank you.

Embracing volatility
Many of us fondly look back on the 1980’s. The music, TV, movies and style are distinctly memorable. For savers and retirees, there is nostalgia for the higher interest rates. These higher rates on bonds and cash, sometimes in the double-digits, generated healthy income. Some retirees could fund all their needs with the interest income from a portfolio of all bonds. When supplemented by Social Security and even a pension, much more common then, investors were less dependent upon stocks, and as a result, less concerned about volatility. Read full article.
The Senate passes the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act
On June 3, 2020, the Senate passed the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act in hopes of helping small businesses more thoroughly take advantage of the provisions of the PPP. Here are the key takeaways. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) provisions of the CARES Act have been continuously evolving since signed into law on March 27, 2020. On June 3, 2020, the Senate passed House Bill H.R. 7010 Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act (PPP Flex), the latest evolution of the PPP. The purpose of this legislation is to enable small businesses to more thoroughly take advantage of the provisions of the PPP. Read full article.
July Rising Leader honoree
The final Rising Leader honoree for the 2019-2020 season goes to Trey Harness of Curiosity Advertising. After joining the company in 2018, Trey has implemented a new and better organizational structure, which has been a key driver of leadership and management training. Trey has also driven in plenty of new business, which resulted in a 40% sales growth in 2019, and continues to manage dozens of client relationships. "[Trey] is a good steward of Curiosity's financial growth to nearly $10 million in 2019” says Susana Max, Marketing Manager for Curiosity. Due to Trey’s significant contributions, the original founders are transitioning day-to-day leadership responsibilities to Trey and other new senior leaders that he has brought to the company.
Rising Leader Voting begins Aug. 1
One Honoree will be selected via an online voting platform that will be open from Aug. 1 through Aug. 21. The semi-finalist who receives the most votes will be named our Rising Leader for 2020 and will be recognized in the Business Courier and across our digital channels.
