Realization of Project Scott Beever 15564944

IDeas

I will be using my padlet website as it was where i put my information and ideas https://padlet.com/scottbeever1/a7houg239561

Event finder (App)

quite like an hotel finder app that shows the event that is happening i.e comic-con and then will show you a hotel near the event and the prices for it.

VR Historical journey through towns.

An Historical journey though historical Towns like London, Manchester etc.

VR Music (virtual drum set)

the Vive with the two controllers as a way to use music software

Portable Drum Set

I had decided to do the Vr music as i think this idea i really original idea that would be a good way or people to get a new kind of way of creating music.

Development of the idea

Ideas for the VR Game

Music Software

It will follow a same format at the FL Studios with it having a keyboard layout for the notes and then click on the note to add it to the song and eventually play entire chords for the game.

(example of using the keyboard layout that could be possibly the best use for them to make music and chords when using a HTC Vive Controller). Can record a beat from the Drum setttings and then use a Software like FL Studios where you use it as a music production

It will be like the software of FL Studios software where you can create the beat and repeat it as is the basic functions of making music on the software. FL Studio is very complicated if you are someone who has no experience in music or someone who is using the software for the first time so this will have more simplified so it can be easy to pick up and then attract more people to play the game in the future.

at beginning the idea was to use real instruments for the game where you could plug in a USB-Jack cable like the cables that where used for the game Rocksmith (https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Cables-Batteries-Adapters/UBI-Soft-300046181-Rocksmith-Real-Tone-Cable/B007KGISK6)

What instruments to use

When creating the idea i had planned out how to use instruments in the VR game but due to the safety of the consumer it would not be possible as they would not be able to see the instrument and can possibly injure themselves. But as i thought of adding some sensors but then it would take way too much money on budget with would make it impossible to be affordable for most of the consumers as the Vive is already pricey so money might be what they will have a lot to spare at the time.

Button sensors: When you add the two sensors to the head and the bottom of the body it will estimate the size and width of the guitar/bass with some pre-measured settings from the average size of an adult size guitar VR is really not suitable for kids due to the problems of vision in the future

Quick Sketch of how it would work

https://structure.io/

This link above would of been perfect to help create the VR Game as it scans 3D objects with the camera on the IPhone or any other Apple product. having a camera on the Vive would of been great as it can be possible to create the system that I was intending from the very beginning.

So this is all of my realisation of this project before it was realized. i thought it would be good to show you as it could be helpful for me in the future.

to ensure that there is a possibility for most users of the VIVE to get the game it would be better to use the same hardware that the game 'Rocksmith' had used which is just having a jack cable with a USB input. and with my game being a music creator rather than teaching you the songs in a guitar hero style. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaHsqGSetVo). Using the Jack Cable would be a good way to save money and to give a chance for the consumer to be able to pay for it rather than having to pay an extreme amount on getting all of the instrument.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Cables-Batteries-Adapters/UBI-Soft-300046181-Rocksmith-Real-Tone-Cable/B007KGISK6

As you can see in the amazon link it is much cheaper than getting the misa Digital Guitar where i've seen it at cheap as $670 so using the cable connected to the computer would be so much cheaper. as you would need a cable for the instrument you would use then the cable would have to be longer so that it can fit in the VR world and depending on your room the size difference would be and estimate the average room size as some people use the HTC Vive in different rooms other than the bedroom. although using the guitar movement might not be the most important use for it rather than playing it . the drums would http://aerodrums.com/shop-policies/ be the best option to use for playing instruments onto the game where the sticks can be used as a a controller which in actually could be used for the Oculus Rift.

possibility using all instruments

could create a board with multiple Leap Motion. using a frame that looks like a guitar you would be able to hold it like a guitar and then use it for any sing based instrument.

https://www.leapmotion.com/

if that could not happen with the Leap motion then it can be like a digital Guitar with button like digital guitar.

And if that isn't a possibility then I could use the same say that the game 'RockSmith' where it uses a real electric guitar or bass to play on the computer

RockSmith Beginners guide

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJFHPD5R8y0

(possible way of using the keyboard in the game)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XBfNyx4RGQ

possibly you can take off the neck of the 'VR Guitar' and then place it on a table or anywhere you would place it and use it as a keyboard (if thats used then it would be good to have a battery fitted into the guitar neck and body to make it more portable

Misa Digital Guitar

with the digital guitar it would be difficult to make some certain techniques like bending and pitch harmonics it would be difficult to make it sound real when live recording the instrument but what would be good as it is a music creator software you can go back to the segment that you want to change and add the bends or any other technique you would like to do.

Drums

Foot Sensors

Possible foot sensors to use.

Cardboard Drum kit

https://www.obilab.com/

another possible piece of equipment that can be used for the vr project as it is a more lighter and portable idea to move the equipment around the room or take it around to a friends

This is what i had put together before i realized that this can be impossible as a huge safety precaution

Locations

when you want to try and be creative the area where you would decide to make the music can effect how it will turn out in the end so it would be a good idea to give the person to pick where they would like to be when creating music

here is some ideas of where I think the most inspirational places to make music

the game will have many settings to sample, mix or use default tones to create the sound where you could also record some sounds.

It will follow a same format at the FL Studios with it having a keyboard layout for the notes and then click on the note to add it to the song and eventually play entire chords for the game.

(example of using the keyboard layout that could be possibly the best use for them to make music and chords when using a HTC Vive Controller)

One aspect could be using the game as a way to teach people how to do music with having videos of a music specialist telling the consumer how to make music.

Logos

Vocals

The Vive has a Built in microphone which could be used for making vocal tracks for the music. problem I've seen with this is the popping and peaking with talking shown in these differences with having a pop filter and not. it would be possible to make a pop filter for the HTC Vive where some people have made a makeshift pop filter by cutting out some fabric

Online

This would be one of the main way that people can collaborate with each other. when searching for people you would selected for what kind of genres you would like do create so then you can find players that have the same interest of making these songs. If there is also a problem you connecting to players online when there is also another way you can Collaborate is that users can create a track and people can upload it in the game so people would download it to the remix it.

Look of the game

it would a mix between the minimal look at the menu and all of the selection that you can pick on the game and you can make a selection of how you would want it to like the locations that i have said before.
