THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parent

The Addams Family Stage Experience provides an opportunity for young people to come together with a professional team to create high quality theatre. Performing on the main stage at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre in a full-scale production with live orchestra, professional lighting and sound, set, costumes, hair and makeup will make it an experience not to be missed. It’s not just about being on stage - the memories and new friendships made and not to mention the skills learnt and the confidence built will make Stage Experience something special to everyone involved. We expect hard work, and commitment from everyone in the cast and team to ensure that the final production is exceptional.

Our two previous Stage Experiences at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, Whistle Down the Wind and Oliver! were highly acclaimed and received 5 star reviews. But what matters to us most is what our participants and parents say:

“This experience has been amazing for my daughter. She was treated with respect, given so much positive advice. She felt so much part of the team. The finished performance was worthy of the West End and I felt so proud of not just my daughter and her friends but of every single one of those young people on the stage.”

“It is an amazing experience to be part of, the quality of the shows are of a professional standard. Absolutely love Vivo D’Arte.”

“The best two weeks of my life”

“Just that as a parent I’m so incredibly grateful for the time and energy you’ve invested in both my children. The show was great, the production amazing, but the experience for my kids was priceless. Thank you!”

“Life changing for the young people lucky enough to be involved.”

“I loved working with Vivo because they do such good productions. They don’t bully you and are kind.”

“I hope I can do it again every year until I’m 25, I loved every single minute of it and part of it. I wish next summer would come round again fast, because I’ll miss it so much."

“This was my son's second year with Vivo, it was amazing to see the difference a year makes on and off stage! Vivo really do care about each and every child/young adult and the shows are definitely of West End standard!"

“It’s the first time my daughter has been involved with Vivo - and she absolutely loved it. From my perspective the communication was good, information was forthcoming and the organisation was very good. Right from the off it was apparent that Vivo cared, appreciated the children and wanted them to enjoy themselves whilst performing. My daughter is hooked!”

I can’t explain what an incredible transformation I saw in my daughter, someone who would freeze in front of someone and could barely open her mouth to sing a line, to a confident happy performer who enjoyed her moments in front of that huge audience of hundreds of people!"

“The end result was a show that wouldn’t have been out of place on the west end. All the performers gave it their absolute best. My daughter had a fabulous two weeks renewing friendships, making new friends and having a brilliant stage experience."

"It is truly a magical thing that happens over these two weeks which will leave its mark on our hearts forever. Thank you to all involved in making dreams come true.”

“Quality of talent the young ones are exposed to is outstanding. Loving family nurturing culture of the Vivo company.”

“The show was amazing, the whole environment is encouraging and nurturing.”

“Everyone is so kind and truly care for each other. The quality of the shows are outstanding and the staff are the kindest people.”

Gomez Addams

An attractive man of Spanish descent, who adores his wife, takes great pride in his children, and is immensely proud to be an Addams; caught between his daughter and his wife he feels completely trapped and unable to make either happy, which is his greatest joy; must have great comedic timing, move well, and strong vocals. (Tenor)

Morticia Addams

Beautiful, leggy, the real head of the family and the critical and moving force behind it; easy comedic actress with a sexy, dry wit; feels her husband is hiding something from her and will use any tactic to lure the secret out; a strong dancer (Alto/Mezzo Soprano).

Uncle Fester

Serves as the musical’s narrator; rotund and child-like, hugely enthusiastic and totally incorrigible; a vaudevillian, needs strong comedy and tenor vocals.

Strong character vocals: Fun and quirky, but don’t mess with Grandma; comedic actress .

Wednesday Addams

Strong pop voice with belt: Gothic in a sexy way, witty with a terrifically dry sense of humour; just wants her family to be “normal” for one night to meet the parents of the boy she’s fallen in love with.

Pugsley Addams

Strong high vocals, unbroken voice: A charming, funny, husky boy who loves being tortured by his sister; he wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands.

Seeking actors the taller the better; a man of very, very few words, often spoken at half speed; most of what he utters is long, plaintive groans, some tinged with irony or exasperation; must have true low bass vocals.

Mal Beineke

Stuffy father of 19-year-old Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming wife, Alice; thinks the Addams’ are beyond strange and does not want to spend time having dinner with them, much less be related. (Bari-tenor)

Alice Beineke

Mother of 19-year-old Lucas, seemingly mousy housewife who’s devoted to her family so she puts aside her own desires; while at the Addams’ family dinner party, she drinks a potion that causes her to let her hair down and speak her truth; very strong comedic singer/actress.(soprano/high belt).

Lucas Beinecke

Attractive young man; fell in love with Wednesday Addams and plans to marry her; experiences the youthful pain and drama of young love and struggles with the differences between his family and the Addams family. (Pop tenor)

You will be notified of the result of your audition or technical interview within a week after the final auditions. The full cast list will be made public once all the emails have gone out and the roles have been accepted. Please note that the decision of the production team is final.

We can’t wait to meet everyone at the auditions. Please be sure to spread the word about this amazing theatrical opportunity and let all your friends know about the auditions.
