We celebrated the New Year with the Saguins in Vancouver. Icky's sister Rita and her family flew in from Manila to join us this year. The Santos girls gathered in Virginia for the Fourth of July weekend - our first time together since 2007.
Scout, our sassy Shih Tzu turned a year old on September 9! She graduated from Obedience School earlier in the year (but barely) and played in the snow for the first time in December. We try to take her everywhere we can; she loves people, other dogs (and cats!) and playing in the great outdoors.
On September 18, Icky and Gigi flew to Spain to walk across the beautiful hills of Galicia, 116 km in one week to complete the shortest leg of the Camino de Santiago. We received our Compostela on September 28 - exhausted, sore but oh so happy! We spent a few days in Madrid and Barcelona, where we logged another hundred miles of walking so we could eat everything in sight and not gain any weight.
Icky finished up a project at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center in December and is busy completing a Web Developer Nanodegree program. Gigi is still in HR at Envestnet/Tamarac (Seattle technology company) and revived her blog (gigigoesgaga.com).
