The Motoroamers December newsletter

So as we approach the final moments of 2016, we have the chance to look back at our best moments after nine months on the road. Not just an adventure, a new lifestyle that has enriched us beyond words.

Whilst we have covered ten countries and 12,000 miles it is not just the roads that we have travelled that have influenced us. The inner journey has coloured our lives beyond our imagination. The cultures, customs and cuisines have broadened our horizons and deepened our appreciation for diversity. And this is just the start. We hope you have enjoyed the ride alongside us. Here are some of our best moments.

Who could not love snow in the summer - La Grave, French Alps.

We experienced Mother Nature at her best... and worst. Stunning beaches, mountains, glaciers, lakes, rivers and gorges. We soaked ourselves in natural thermal springs and endured biblical storms, earthquakes and floods.

San Fellippo Thermal Springs, Tuscany

We enjoyed cheese in Gruyere, were surprised by beautiful wine in Slovenia, sunk a couple of Limoncelos in Italy and loved the Bittebollen in Netherlands.

We were moved by the Semana Santa Easter celebrations in Cadiz and the Flamenco in Ronda. We rubbed shoulders with the Greek ghosts in Paestum, Italy and made cheese in Eindhoven.

Paestum, Italy

We stayed in volcanic craters, on lake edges, vineyards, Bullrings, Ski resorts, beaches, forests and in monasteries. We've wild camped and been to a few campsites and each one holds a special memory.

We visited cities, held up leaning towers, climbed up the highest sand dune in Europe, kayaked up gorges, hiked up to waterfalls, navigated Italy's roads and survived and walked on glaciers in 25 degrees. And we feel blessed by every moment.

And then to top it all, we had our historical education nurtured by visiting World War 1 memorials; Boveč, Slovenia, Montecassino, Italy, Verdun, France and Ypres, Belgium. Not forgetting the memorable immersion into Hitler's reign in Oberselzburg, Bavaria.

An emotional week where we paid our respects at the Menin Gate, Ypres and at the Mendinghem Military Cemetery to honour Myles' Great Grandad Hadgett.

Douaumont Oussuary, Verdon

So many memories, shared with friends, family and virtually with our Motoroaming friends alike. We met up with old friends, made some very special new ones and been guided by locals and our hearts. What a fantastic journey and next year we look forward to entertaining, inspiring and sharing our adventures with you, some more.

We both wish you and your families the greatest festive season and health and adventures in 2017. See you on the other side. Love from Myles, Karen and Scoobie.
