" Shall I compare you to a Summer.s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date. Extract from Sonnet William Shakespeare
Echium vulgare, Vipers Bugloss, also called blue weed - which is a little confusing as its main purpose used to be as a red dye! It's one of the best bee plants, and should be part of any garden designed to attract wildlife. It's in the same family as both borage ("common bugloss") and alkanet ("dyer's bugloss"), but not closely related. The name viper's bugloss came from its use in the past as a treatment for snake bites.
