The office staff would like your help in recognizing our staff. Please take a few moments and use the link below to provide some encouragement to those folks that are making a major difference in your child's future. These comments can be anonymous, or you can provide your name. The office staff will use the provided comments every Thursday for our #thankfulThursday movement. The attached form can be completed, as little or often as you like, throughout the entire school year. We appreciate your support in growing the culture of gratitude that already exists at MIS!!
A couple of comments shared this week:
"A huge shout out to our Custodial Staff for keeping the sidewalks cleared this past week. The building and restrooms have never been cleaner! If asked to get whiteboard cleaner, desk cleaner, or clean clothes, they always following through! Thanks for your hard work!"
"Thank you so much Mrs. Cruse for going the extra mile with our children. My daughter comes home daily with a new story to tell from class each day. You and Mr. Berrier are making an impact in our lives."
The ILEARN window will open on April 19th. All testing will occur first thing in the morning on the dates listed below. Testing will begin by 8:10 and will end each day around 9:30.
Tentative ILEARN Schedule
Students will need headphones to take the test this year. The brand doesn't matter; however, it must be a straight headphone plug as pictured below and not a 90 degree angle as it won't fit into the iPads.

student council news
This year to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the student council will not be collecting coins, but will be taking online collections. Maxwell has a main page and each teacher also has their own page. Look for an email from your child's teacher with the link. If you don't have access to your homeroom link, you may access Maxwell's page by clicking the link below:
Every donation helps a very worthy cause and through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Hero Squad program they help to ensure that no child has to take on cancer alone.
We are pleased to inform you that your 5th or 6th grade child is scheduled to participate in human growth and development programming this year with Health Ed Pros. A virtual parent information meeting will be held on March 11th at 6:30pm. Please note a paper copy with information regarding this event has been sent home twice earlier this month. This paperwork also includes the code for the virtual meeting.
mis vaccination clinic
Please see the attached flyer for the vaccination clinic scheduled at MIS on March 12th. The times listed are approximate times and may be dependent upon the number of students who register for the clinic.
Why is this so important this year?
The Hancock County Health Department has reduced routine vaccination clinic times to two hours per week, and most local pharmacies are no longer offering routine vaccinations while they are beginning to plan for covid vaccinations. Parents of fifth grade students may have a difficult time finding locations to receive vaccines. THERE IS NOT a vaccine shortage, but administration sites are not as available as they have been in the past.
Our school will be participating in the SchoolStore program again this year. This online program helps our school earn cash without students selling door-to-door, collecting money or delivering products. Over 400 merchants, including Kohl's, Old Navy and WalMart.com, have joined together to offer up to 50% of sales to our school for shopping through SchoolStore.com.
You shop online for what you are planning to purchase anyway and support our school. Simply go to www.schoolstore.com, select our school (School code: 8981) and let the shopping begin!! Feel free to share with family members and friends.
