The History of Engineering at Benchmark Group

It's National Engineers Week! To honor all of our engineers and engineering teams, we want to take a look back at the history of engineering at Benchmark Group.

Our firm began as an electrical engineering firm 39 years ago in April of 1978.

Our first office? The garage of founder & president Paul C. Parks.

Did you know? In 1981, we were one of the earliest consultants to use personal computers when we purchased the Radio Shack TRS 80 in October. We also were the very first engineering firm in Arkansas to use CAD in regular drawing production, with the purchase of a CADMAX system in December of 1981.

1981 was a big year for the firm. Mechanical engineering was added in July of that year.

Jumping ahead... Twenty-two years later, the construction world was changing & expanding. As such, the need for specialized engineering solutions grew. Benchmark Group answered this need by creating the Fire Protection team in 2003.

And in 2009, Refrigeration engineering was made an official team as clients began to require more specific & focused refrigeration services.

Today, our firm is comprised of 70 team members working in the Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, & Refrigeration disciplines. To serve our clients, we have 13 engineers, supported by 57 design staff (including designers, discipline specialists, & administrative specialists).

Our engineering teams serve multiple local & national clients. Retail, grocery, churches, breweries, office spaces... their experience is vast and their quality is top-notch. We are proud of how hard they work to make Benchmark Group the team-of-choice!

HAPPY ENGINEERS WEEK!
